Avon Pink War 2014: Walk & Run Against Breast Cancer

from Avon Philippines facebook page

It's the day! I'm really terrible at preparing for important things, that much I could say. I was (yet again) sleep deprived, having only managed to catch about 3 hours of sleep. The assembly time at SM MoA was 4:30. We wanted to at least get there by that time just so at least we could warm up before the gun start. Well, apparently that's a target set too high. (sigh)

I was already having coffee at McDonald's Cainta before 4 am, Jo and I were supposed to meet at 3:50 to catch a cab there and then pick up Vea along the way. The thing is, our girl is still on her way out of their subdivision, hence, the rush. To make the long story short, not only did we miss the assembly time, we arrived just in time for the 10K runners to start. There goes our warm up time, too, so we just managed a few stretches before we ran. Err, jog, hehehe.

We registered for the 5K race this time. Only because that's the shortest distance available, hah! And hey, we finished right? So we'll definitely be trying it out again, I think we're still a lot of bananas away from trying out 10K, though hehehe.

What were waiting for us after the run:

Zumba party with Regine Tolentino, Solenn Heussaff, Kris Bernal, and Rocco Nacino.

Top - with my office friends.
Bottom - with elementary/high school friends (tibay.hahaha)

Freebies!:

The Avon loot bag. The content of which could easily go over the registration fee. Sweet, eh? ^^

Vita Coco

Keychain at the Skechers booth. This booth is more popular than it's neighboring health check booth.

Soleus booth and a health consultation booth.

I don't know why, but I think I wasn't as tired compared to my 3K Energen run. (yabang.hahaha) Well that's what I thought until I woke up from my supposedly short siesta which apparently took more than 6 hours. :-P I woke up at around 9 pm on Sunday feeling sore.

So there, reminders for myself: sleep WELL before the day of the run; leave early and have a proper warm up; and be consistent with my daily exercises.

Breakky with zeh girls at Adobo Connection. The downside: well they do serve hot coffee, it's just that this particular Sunday they're out of hot drinks. Our savior? The neighboring 711. ^^

* photo credits: Vea, because pics I took from my phone weren't clear enough :'( (I tinkered with my phone cam settings for a bit and I was only able to return it to how it should be just now. Yep, darn!)

Registered: Avon Pink War

Finally! After being postponed for several weeks we got to register. :-) This is just my second run and I have mixed emotions about it.hahaha

When we joined the Energen fun run, Joanne and I ran the 3K race. Yeah, we're such babies we know. And my plan is if I join again my next run should just be the same distance, to get the hang of it first. I'm still so intimidated by the additional 2 kilometers. I don't exercise except for the stretches that I manage whenever I wake up early (at 9:30). Jo and I finished the 3K race just a couple of minutes shy of the half hour mark. Pat on the back, as if it's something to be really proud of.hahaha That put us at the higher 40% of those who participated in our category. However, with the additional distance, I'm afraid that we would have to sweat it out some more. Another 20 or 30 minutes, perhaps? Ottoke? ("What to do?" in Korean)

5K it is! Because that's the shortest distance available. hahaha

Well, we'll have to wait and see come October 12. Aja!

Smoothie Diaries: Carrot Broccoli Smoothie

One activity we all like doing is eating and hanging out with friends. And now that a couple of them are "on the way", going healthy is always the best option.   And good for us singles, too who still find doing the physical work too challenging to even consider starting (hah!). So we're left with being smart with our food and drink choices for the time being. After all, you are what you eat, right?

And like the other posts in here, this is inspired yet again by Pinterest. At least I could say now that spending nights browsing, liking, and repinning endless pins really is helpful and practical. Justified! Facebook big smile - Grin emoticon So read on and let me share this concoction.hihi

Apple - banana - carrot - broccoli smoothie. Make it green by adding spinach.

Ingredients:
1 head of broccoli
4 pcs of bananas
2 apples
1 carrot
1 cup soy milk
crushed ice

Wash all of the fruits and vegetables thoroughly, being careful to remove all dirt from the carrots.

Cut the veggies into a size that is suitable for your blender.

Blend carrot and soy milk first until smooth.

[Add spinach if you have, they're out of spinach at SM so we had to make do with what we could buy at that time.hehe]

Then add the remaining ingredients: apples, broccoli, and bananas.

* Makes 4 glasses

I like my drinks sweet so I still added sugar to it. For the liquids, you may substitute soy milk with fresh milk or coconut water. This one's not really smooth but we're fine with the coarseness due to the carrots and broccoli. But for people who are not fans of veggies, this sure is a good and easier way of eating your greens. heheh Facebook big smile - Grin emoticon

Until next week
